"Naturally High" - a drug / tobacco prevention program touring elementary schools in Hawaii and on the mainland.
Past programs organized by us, since 1992, include performances, educational workshops and classes at schools, libraries, churches, festivals, benefits and other community events. . Our “Juggling For Success” self esteem programs have served eight Big Island, two Kauai Schools and over 8500 students. The Hiccup Children’s Circus, with children participants from rural Puna and Hilo, has been a regular feature at most Big Island Festivals and Parades in recent years, performing in over 60 community events annually.
Additional programs have included fourteen International Circus Arts Festivals held annually on the Big Island plus weekly cultural- recreational., four community festivals. “Dr Seuss in words and actions” a literacy program presented in 15 libraries and schools plus the highly acclaimed show “Naturally High”.. This show with its “positive alternatives to drugs” message was featured on Hawaiian Moving Company (Feb & June 1996). It has been presented in 87 Elementary and Intermediate schools on the Big Island, Maui, Kauai, Oahu and California to date.
Currently Hiccup Circus classes are held weekly, during the school year, in three different locations in Hilo and Puna. Over 100 students, with a multitude of different ethnic backgrounds, attend these classes. Hiccup Circus members have received trophy after trophy in talent shows including 1995 & 1997 Hawaii State Champions. Television appearances have included two features by Hawaiian Moving Company (Jan 1993 and Feb 1996) and several public access shows in Hawaii.
We have just returned from a two week tour of California where we performed in 19 schools and just had a wonderful article printed in Hana Hou the Hawaiian Airlines magazine.
